About a month ago I was in New York attending the Wendy Williams show (How You Doing?). What’s a trip to New York without going shopping? So I hit my usual favorite stores. I walked right past Esprit and didn’t think twice about it. I’ve never had the urge to go in and see what they had. Bags in hand, wallet a little lighter, my body was pulled into Esprit by the hypnotizing sale signs.
The entire store was 50% off, even the new stuff. Confused by this I ask the sale’s rep to give me scoop. She told me they were preparing for the new season. Thinking about how another retailer ZARA practically did the same thing, I accepted what she said as truth. This was far from the truth.
I picked up some cute scarfs, a pair of skinny jeans, and a cute tribal print top. Not bad for a store I never shop in. I even made a “Note to Self” to check out Esprit more often. Well, I won’t have many chances to do that. A press release indicated Esprit will be closing all of its stores in North America due to a decline in sales. That New York store now boasts signs of 75% off everything that’s left! I mean that literally, there’s nothing left in that store now. You will still have the opportunity to shop online but the clothes online aren’t the same as the trendy clothes I saw in the stores. Online they are providing a coupon code for 50% but again if you have a store near you go check it out and pick up some nice things while you can.
There is mention that if Esprit can find a buyer they will resurface again in North America. For now Goodbye Esprit.
