Last night I went to the 2nd Annual Fashion Law Week in DC. It was a sophisticated crowd made up of lawyers, models, fashion designers, media, and guests. I know what you’re thinking, cause I was thinking, what a crazy combination! Fashion Law Week DC is a weeklong series of events that exposes law students to career opportunities in fashion law while also engaging the broader community in the subset of intellectual property law. They ended with last night’s fashion show.
It was held at “The Mansion on O” near DuPont Circle. This hotel is fascinating. I was greeted by two lion statues which I cleverly leaned against to take off my Tory Burch flats and put on my cute heels. Being fashionable doesn’t always have to be painful, especially since I conveniently rode the Metro. The ambiance was nice and the crowd was buzzing as we admired the lovely pre-show installation by Korto Momolu. The models stood like frozen couture barbie dolls in one area of the hotel while media took pictures.

The models were rushed away and we were shown to our seats. On my way to my seat I ran into Miss Black DC 2012 (Amina Gilyard) and Miss Black Maryland 2012 (Ebony Andrews).
Even the guests were fierce!!
The host was Miss Universe Ghana 2010 (Awurama Simpson). The lineup included Studio D’Maxsi Designs by Afua Sam, Kim Schalk, Diamantina, Jem Collection, Diva Delicious, Stella Bonds, Gwen Beloti, Tashia Senn, and Elizbeth St. John.
Here are my absolute favorites from Studio D’Maxsi Designs by Afua Sam. Be sure to check out my exclusive interview with her tomorrow!
The show included many unique and stylish concepts. Check out my picks from the rest of the show…
