The Hunger Games countdown is over but the buzz has just begun! Many crowded the theaters last night for the midnight premiere of the first installment. Fans of the novel came out in droves. One thing the ladies had in common was their nail polish. China Glaze debuted their Hunger Games – Capitol Colours Collection on March 1st so you can “represent your district”.
The 12 nail polishes in the Capitol Colours collection are each inspired by one of the 12 districts – allowing citizens to show their solidarity and support for a favorite tribute by wearing the color associated with their district.
China Glaze describes how the line is inspired by the movie Hunger Games and hence the meaning behind the ‘Capitol Collection’
“In keeping with the powerful themes and messages of the story, the collection of nail polish will be inspired exclusively by one of the book’s distinct settings- the Capitol of the nation of Panem. Awash in lavish fashion, food, and entertainment, Capitol citizens enjoy extreme cosmetics and body modifications, bold wigs, and outlandish costumes.”
District 1 (Luxury) is the Hunger Games’ version of Tinsel Town and has a shade called “Luxe and Lush,” featuring a clear polish with silver glitter.
District 2 (Stone Cold) representing masonry and has a dark greyish-black stony shimmer.
District 3 (Riveting) If you want to look “Riveting” and techy, you need the fiery-red shade designated for District 3.
District 4 (Hook and Line) a grey shade called “Hook and Line” that might’ve been inspired by fish scales.
District 5 (Electrify) The shade “Electrify” represents District 5 and glitters ablaze in red, orangey-golden specks of power.
District 6 (Fast Track) for transportation.
District 7 (Mahogany Magic) is a matte shade that looks much like a piece of lumber in District 7.
District 8 (Dress Me Up) is a flirty, innocent pink color reminiscent of the textiles in District 8.
District 9 (Harvest Moon) that’s just like its name suggests. It’s a shiny orangish-brown and is meant for District 9 supporters who like harvesting (and eating) grains.
District 10 (Foie Gras) Everyone wants nails the shade of fashionable goose liver, which is why “Foie Gras” is the perfect color to remind one of livestock in District 10.
District 11 (Agro) for agriculture and has a greenish brown tint.
District 12 (Smoke and Ashes) Smoky black nails somehow look chic, when you add some shine
