We put so much thought into our hair. We cut it, color it, style it, all to our hearts content. Yet sometimes we plain ol’ don’t want to do anything. Maybe it is a lazy day, or not enough time in the day while we are running around with our busy days, but occasionally its just not feasible to spend that hour or more on our hair. That’s when Aloxxi comes in. With their ColourCare Dry Shampoo you can skip a day. Or two. Or three. And no one will be the wiser!
Dry Shampoos are a fairly new commodity in the beauty world. Only a few years old, there are a plethora of options on the market. Aloxxi is ideal for all hair types and colors, and contains a variety of silky powders, such as clay, rice and even potato. Grapefruit and honey extract condition the hair and sunflower seed oil helps protect your locks from those harmfully pesky UV rays!
Found in a convenient hairspray-style bottle, and with a floral scent, the application of the product is pretty simple: spray about 6-8 inches away from your scalp and hair, let it dry, and run the product through your hair for even distribution. That’s it! Simple right? Depending on your hair texture and style, there might be some variances.
For those curly beauties, if you are au-natural with zero product in your hair, spray right at your roots.
After it is dry, use your fingers starting at the scalp and slightly jiggle the hair up 1 inch to “work in” the product without messing up those curls. Then, lightly go over your whole head (avoiding the just-done roots) and toss your head upside down and scrunch. Now’s the time to add in product if you use it, otherwise it will give you volume and revitalize your curly do!
The application on straight hair is essentially the same.
However the difference again is whether you have naturally straight hair, or if you add in product and run a straight iron through it. If you do style your hair with a straight iron, then you might have to re-run an iron through. Otherwise, just like with curly hair, just spray at the roots!
All this ease and accessibility, is it too good to be true? In short: yes and no.
The tricky thing about the shampoo is all mental; even after the grease is gone, you can still feel dirty. The product also doesn’t get rid of all the build-up in your hair and can leave your hair feeling a little gunky. Clearly, this is by no means a replacement of actually showering! But when you need a quick pick-me-up, then this is the CHIC way to go!
