Shecky’s was created in 1998 by Chris Hoffman, which initially began as a publishing company for a Manhattan nightlife guide. It was not until Hoffman threw a launch party accompanied by vendors and some of New York’s upcoming designers did he get the idea to create what we now know as “Shecky’s Girls Night Out.” The first event was held in New York and has now spread out to over 14 different locations Nation wide, including yours truly, Washington DC.
This years DC event was held at the DAR Constitution Hall on September 5, 2012. It allowed women from all over the DC area to come mingle with other fashionistas. No men were allowed, with the exception of serving women. Guests are given a slip that entitles them to a complimentary goodie bag and endless cocktails along with access to over a hundred unique designers, make-up stations, hair care and other vendors that had enticing items for purchase. The prices were very reasonable and ranged from $20-$300 for items like jewelry and designer jackets. In addition there was a picture station set up for ladies to take a memorable picture with their girls.
Some of our favorite vendors included: Glamour Lash Bar, Haute Handbags by Janelle, DC Dandy Jewelry & Couture, Posh R. Public Relations Group, Rodan + Fields Dermatology, and Shecky’s Closet. We are looking forward to seeing what vendors Shecky’s has in store next year.
