Ever had one of those days where you’re sick of everything you own in your closet? Many of us suffer from the syndrome called “My Closet is Full But I Have Nothing To Wear.” The symptoms flare up around the time we need to pull together an outfit for a night out with people we haven’t seen in awhile or are meeting for the first time. Some of us may even be afflicted before going out anywhere at all-including quick trips to the grocery store. The mystery of why we feel what we own is no longer enough may never be answered but there are some remedies. One is to transform the items you already own into fabulous new pieces you can’t wait to show off. Here’s a taste of what we mean with a quick how-to on changing your old shoes into stunning new gold toe shoes.
shoes, scrap paper, tape, gold paint (can be found at any craft store or places like Home Depot for $5-$10)
Find an old pair of shoes. They can be flats or heels-any pair you won’t mind giving a permanent makeover. Shoes with scuffs along the front are perfect candidates.
Wrap the shoe in a piece of scrap paper. A paper towel works well. Make sure to leave the front tip of the shoe that you want painted exposed. To protect the sole be sure to add tape to the bottom.
Paint exposed area with gold paint. Regular paint or spray paint will do.
Let dry for a couple of hours. Remove paper and tape.
And voilà! You have a new pair of shoes without breaking the bank.
