So anyone who knows me, knows that Kerry Washington is my ultimate girl crush. Her acting skills have proven to be superb and she has made her name as an A- List actress over the years. Fashion enthusiasts have been taking note of Ms. Washington for a while now and with award show season in full swing, all eyes are on the Django Unchained and Scandal star. While the movie star is making some pretty daring fashion choices as of late, Kerry Washington’s style wasn’t always as edgy so let’s take a walk down memory lane and look at the red carpet evolution of Kerry Washington.
Who remembers Kerry Washington from Save the Last Dance? Before she was a red carpet A-lister, Ms. Washington had her breakout role in Save the Last Dance. This look is from the premiere party of the movie. While some may consider this look a “don’t” but it really fits in with look that was popular at the time and she is representing New York!
This look from the 2008 Spirit Awards received some criticism. The turtle neck gives off shine that looks a little like sweat but the skirt is 1950s glamour and the colors are beautiful.
This look from the 2009 MOMA documentary festival is sleek and sophisticated. The casual look is appropriate for the red carpet and the hair and makeup is flawless as usual.
Kerry Washington wore this couture Zuhair Murad gown to the 2011. Wearing a couture piece straight off the runway can be difficult in terms of wearability however, Ms. Washington wears this gown perfectly. The sheer bottom adds a little bit of edge to the look while her hair and makeup gives the look a classy hollywood flair.
Kerry Washington wore Miu Miu to the 2013 Golden Globes. This look continues the high fashion looks the actor has been wearing on her Django and Award show whirlwind. The look is straight from the runway and is very edgy. Certain fashion critics were not fans of this look but I think it definitely shows Ms. Washington defining her style.
What do you ladies think? Which is your favorite Kerry Washington look?
