Just when everyone thought Nicki Minaj has done everything she possibly could, the pop star has yet another accomplishment to add to her already distinguished list of stardom. Having already had quite a successful year in 2012 with the releasing of her own fragrance line, “Pink Friday” and becoming American Idol’s newest judge, she can now add clothing designer to her list of occupations . Just this past week, the pop princess announced that she, along with Maroon 5’s lead singer, Adam Levine will be launching a clothing line at select Kmart locations and its affiliate website Shop Your Way.
When asked about her reasoning for choosing Kmart as her retailer, she said “My biggest goal was to make a line that was going to be affordable to my fans and also rich enough in quality that they’ll feel like they’re wearing exactly what I’m wearing… I am so excited to work with this iconic, mass retailer and to bring affordable fashion to my beautiful barbz all across the U.S.”
That’s right, now fans whom Nicki Minaj refers to as her “Barbz” will be able to dress like the head Barbie herself without breaking their pockets. Though in the past years, Nicki has been known for her rather eccentric and sometimes controversial style , the diva has recently toned her wardrobe down and is beginning to look a bit more refined.
As for Kmart’s standpoint of the partnership , they are equally as excited. According to Imran Kooma, executive vice president and president of Marketing & Online at Sears Holding, “we are thrilled to align Kmart and Shop Your Way with two of America’s superstars. We welcome Adam and Nicki into our world and look forward to capturing their energy and creativity on ShopYourWay.com and translating it into unique apparel, accessories and other merchandise.” It will be interesting to see what Nicki has to come up with, though one can almost guarantee that it will be nothing like we have seen before.
What do you think of Nicki Minaj launching a clothing line? WIll her Barbz be rushing to the nearest Kmart location to buy her clothing or will the line flop?
