There are a few things in life more exciting than finding a natural, inexpensive, and easy how-to spa treatment, and DIY pore strips hit the spot! With just two ingredients, say bye-bye to blackheads and enlarged pores and hello to smooth baby soft skin!
Here’s what you need to get started:
- 1 teaspoon of unflavored gelatin (unless you want blue/red/green coloring on your face, then knock yourself out!)
- 1-2 teaspoons of milk (any kind, I used regular)
- Mixing utensil
- Microwave safe bowl
The measurements are approximate. This batch made enough for a thin full-face mask, or even to have a pore strips spa party for 2! It wouldn’t be a DIY project if you didn’t get to play around with the portions, so test out the best method for you.
Next, with the milk already in the bowl, pour in the dry, unflavored gelatin.
As you stir, you’ll see the mixture go from this:
If the mixture seems way too crumbly, as it is here, don’t hesitate to add in a little bit more milk. I added just a pinch more before I was satisfied.
Next, its off to the microwave! Zap it for 10-12 seconds. Be careful! The mixture will be hot, but now you’ll have a smooth and creamy texture.
Now for the fun part… application! You have to work relatively quickly, as this being a gelatin mixture, gooeyness will set in fast. Using the back of the spoon, or any other applicator (popsicle sticks are another great option), apply the mixture where you would normally a pore strip; along the sides and spine of your nose, and a little off to the right and left of your nose where you can see noticeable pores.
Let it harden on your skin for about 15 minutes, and starting from one end, peel up and over. You should feel the pore strip pulling gently on your skin as it detoxifies and cleanses your skin.
Tell me this doesn’t look like a real pore strip!
And yes, you are welcome for the not so-close close up shot, but believe me this stuff works. Soft and smooth, you can’t go wrong with this DIY pore strip!
