Ask the stylist to not include your edge perimeter at all. If you have extremely thinned out or fragile edges, try not to have them braided. Instead, slick them down with a satin scarf and homemade flaxseed gel for a polished look.
Make sure you use proper hair. Some hair can be very heavy, especially when doing long braids. Ask others about hair brands and density before choosing a set length, as the hair can pull and damage your roots.
Low manipulation. I know you all want to swing your hair back and forth like Willow Smith, but with heavy braids tugging on your roots, its not as cute as it looks in her music video. Also, try not to pull the hair up in a high ponytail or bun too often and when you do, be gentle!
