There are essentials to keeping your natural hair healthy and to promote growth. The top essentials include cleansing, daily moisturizing, regular deep conditioning, low manipulation/protective styling, and nightly hair wraps. Sounds pretty straight forward right? Not so much if you do not have the right products for your type of hair and making sure you have the right supplies. Supplies such as a silk bonnet, silk pillowcases, Denman brush, wide tooth comb essential natural oils, etc. So if your goal is to have long, healthy and full hair, you may want to check out these steps to make sure you are taking great care of your natural hair.
If you’re planning to wash you hair daily, you want to pay special attention to the shampoo you use. Regular shampoos contain sulfates- which are very drying.(Try reading the labels when purchasing your staple products). For daily cleansing you can co wash (wash your hair with only conditioner) or use sulfate free shampoo.
You want to make sure you moisturize as often as you can or need during the day. You can carry around a small spray bottle in your bag to mist your hair. Use as needed ladies!
You want to deep condition every 1-2 weeks. Focus more on the ends and work your way up. Don’t be scared to use large amount of conditioner. The focus is to CONDITION DEEPLY! Use your steamer, or heated cap with a plastic shower cap.
Low Manipulating/Protective Styling:
The key is not wearing your hair out. Tuck those ends in and promote health hair growth. The protected ends allow “less manipulation” and promote growth. The less stress on the hair the better!
Wrapping up your hair is very important before going to bed. If you don’t have time to wrap it up everyday, try purchasing silk pillowcases from your beauty supply store.
