Our latest street CHIC spotting was Ashley, walking along U Street and heading to celebrate her cousin’s birthday. They were kind enough to let us borrow her for a moment to capture this statement look.
Ashley said that her outfit was inspired by her pants: a camo print that never seems to go out of style. To make them more CHIC for the evening, she rolled a cropped-ankle cuff to highlight neutral pumps. She also shows her street-style smarts by sticking to solid pieces (her top black top, burgundy coat, white head scarf, and cherry red bag) so the focus is on the pants. However, we all had a good laugh as we asked about her outfit and she realized that it wasn’t her bag and she didn’t realize that she was holding it for a friend. Regardless, she worked it!
What she really worked was that head scarf- a simple way to create a stunning updo! As the weather gets warmer, I suggest taking after Ashley and trying this style with a thin, light (remember, a lighter color will reflect the heat and a darker color will absorb the heat when you wear it out in the sun!) head scarf when you’re stepping out. I suggest wearings solids, because a printed head scarf will be a cute statement whereas a solid head scarf with a an outfit of solids is a great way to pull off the color blocking trend! And just think of how CHIC you would look with a head scarf like Ashley’s framing a pair of spring orange lips!
There’s so much inspiration in this look- try it with pastels, neutrals, and whites to bring it into spring.
What do you think of Ashley’s look? Will you be trying a CHIC head scarf this spring?
