Summer is right around the corner! Lounging at the beach and trips to the pool are probably the best part of the warm weather. However, the beach can leave your tresses wet and tangled. Chances are you probably don’t want to spend hours blow drying and straightening your locks for a night out after a long day of fun. Luckily, there are plenty of styles that can take you from a splash filled day to a night of fun in a breeze.
Braided Wet HairStyles
Braids are perfect and quick for wet hair. It looks slick and smooth and is easier to style when its wet since it is thinner and there are less fly-aways. To prep hair for styling after a dip in the ocean, use a detangler spray and brush hair out carefully so its smooth.
For a variation on a typical french braided style, begin a french braid at the side of the head and braid it around to the bottom of the opposite side of the head and braid the rest of the hair normally to the end.
The style on Rihanna is a variation of the first braided style. Begin by combing out your hair and parting it down the middle. Then start with a small french braid on a section the side of the head and then gather the rest of her hair to the same side and braid it normally. The result is a cute and unique look for evening that is more exciting than your everyday side braid.
For Lauren Conrad’s simple braided updo, start two french braids on opposite sides of the crown of the head and stop at the bottom of the head where the two braids meet and twist the two ends into a bun on the lower part of the head.
This braided crown is just a large french braid that was french braided loosely around the side of the head on one side and then braided normally to the end of the hair. The braid itself was then wrapped around the head and bobby pinned in place.
Wet hair buns
Doing a bun updo with wet hair is another easy way to style hair when it is wet. The top of the bun will look slick and smooth from wet hair. You also have lots of control on styling the bun itself when it is wet. Feel free to try a loose messy bun with loose ends or a tight ballerina bun. Here are a few variations on the bun that look great with wet hair.
For this style, start with your hair wet and parted on the side. Brush the side with more hair back at an angle and comb the other side of the hair down and flat. Gather hair together from both sides in the middle of the hair and twist them together. Wrap the twist in a circle around itself and insert bobby pins throughout to help keep it in place. For some extra embellishment, try bobby pins for your bun with pearls or rhinestones on the end of them.
Braided bun. This is another super easy style for wet hair. Start by brushing back wet hair so it is slicked back. Do one small french braid down the middle of the hair and braid it to the end of your hair and use a twist tie to secure the small braid. then divide hair into sections and comb all of it back into a ponytail and secure it with a twist tie, leaving out the mini french braid you made earlier. Then braid the ponytail you just made and secure it with another twist tie. Wrap the large braid and mini braid around your head to form a bun and secure with bobby pins to form a braided bun.
Messy bun. This is a super easy style for on the go. All you have to do is comb your hair back and secure it at the bottom by forming a messy bun. The bun can be formed by folding the hair on itself and wrapping the ponytail as you go. Then pull a few ends loose to help add to the messy look. Adding some dangly earrings to this look really helps frame your face and is the perfect quick updo for going from day to night.
Beach Wavy Hair
Beachy waves are the perfect look for a night out and can easily be created with wet hair. Comb a detangling/conditioning spray through hair to get the knots out from the ocean. Then put some mouse or gel spray in your palm and scrunch your hair a few times with your hands. When it dries your hair will have some nice volume and beachy waves.
