Everyone loves a good love story, so this week’s DC Street CHIC is all in the name of love. After all, it’s wedding season. I spotted the beautiful Bride Amanda and the handsome Groom Gilbert with their wedding party near the Archives Metro Station in DC. They were decked out in wedding attire conducting a photo shoot
What caught my eye was Amanda’s lovely laced and layered wedding gown with a gold bustier style buxom that pulled it all together. Once I stopped drooling over her amazing gown, I noticed the bridesmaids who wore dresses made of either a lace or silk textile. The dresses varied in length and the shades ranged in hues of light pink.
Now, let’s talk about the groomsmen and how dapper they looked. Ah! I nearly stopped breathing. There’s nothing worse than a wedding crasher, but when I noticed how well they were put together they were I was ready to hop into their pictures. They were so simple, yet so classic. They wore perfectly tailored grey suits, crisp white collard button-up shirts and light pink bowties (similar to the shades of the bridesmaid’s dresses). The icing on the cake was the light pink handkerchief that completed the overall look.
What pulled it all together were their props. They made sure to show some school spirit for their dear old University of Michigan. And what’s college without a few flasks.
After the honeymoon, I caught up with the bride to get some information on the wedding and love story.
Naté: How did you two first meet?
Amanda: We met ten years ago as students at the University of Michigan–we were close friends throughout college, and started dating in 2008. He actually flew across the Atlantic at the last minute to propose to me the day I graduated from my Master’s program in England!
Naté: What is your favorite thing to love about each other?
Amanda: We love having fun and being silly together! We wanted the wedding to reflect that, so we put in goofy, personal touches wherever we could.
Naté: Who choose those lovely wedding colors? I just LOVE them!
Amanda: I didn’t have any particular colors in mind when I started planning, so I asked my bridesmaids what color they wanted to wear, and they ended up choosing pink. The girls all picked their own dresses, and we thought the gray tuxes on the guys would be a fun, more casual choice for an outdoor spring wedding.
Congratulations Amanda and Gilbert! We wish you both the best.
