Hip Hop royalty mixed with sohpisticated CHIC interwined at Masaharu Morimoto’s Tribeca Canvas in New York on Tuesday evening to toast the 10th anniversary of Pharrell Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club & Ice Cream clothing line. The guest list included Busta Rhymes, Charlotte Ronson, Q-Tip, photographer Terry Richardson, Jay-Z, Beyoncé and more.
Speaking of Beyoncé, she rocked a pair of black leather shorts with black ankle boots and a Billionaire Girls Club hoodie. She looked cute next to hubby (Jay-Z) wearing a blue button-down shirt, dark jeans, and crisp white kicks.
Pharrell Williams, a 40-year old music producer had plenty to toast. Billionaire Boys Club is now partnered with Scion, a brand management and licensing company founded by Jay-Z and Iconix Brand Group. Under the deal, the brand is expected to generate $25 to $30 million this year in comparison to the average $2 to $3 million prior to the partnership, according to WWD.
The expansion will include footwear, accessories and fragrance categories. Coming this fall, the line will also debut Ice Cream Girl, a juniors line
designed by Vashtie Kola, and a women’s line, Billionaire Girls Club. When asked if he considers his brand to be a streetwear brand, Pharrell said: “I would never argue with anybody if they tried to say that’s what we were. I’m just happy to exist. A label is a label. I’ve had everybody from Karl Lagerfeld to François Pinault wear BBC. We are whatever you want us to be.”
