Summer is here and the urge to freshen up your wardrobe has to be busting at the seams. Sure, there are things that you already own from last year, but there are some essentials you will need to make it CHIC! If you do it right you can save a lot more than you think. Let’s take three different looks and show you how to save money and create diversity in your wardrobe.
Farmers Market / Festival Look
The first staple item is a crochet long sleeve dress. The Farmers Market look is paired with a striped floppy hat making it the perfect way to keep the sun off your face and stay stylishly cool. This versatile floppy hat can be worn in many places. However since the hat is so colorful you want to make sure to keep the rest of your look semi-neutral so there aren’t too many conflicting colors. Doing a lot of walking? Flats are perfect! So we’ve paired the hat and dress with tan western, strappy flats.
Going to a festival? Pair the dress with a headband, sunglasses and scandals instead. Start your day off with your hair down and as the heat rises use your knotted leopard headband. We have also added a pair of circular sunglasses; they will come in handy, trust us! Lastly we’ve added a pair of gladiator sandals, they are so cute and will keep your feet clean and happy all day long.
My second staple look is a chambray top with a lace yoke and waist tie; look number one is an outfit for work. I paired the top with skinnies and flats, this is a classic, comfortable and easy work look that is perfect for summer time. The pants are printed and the color is right on trend, they are fitted and have a little bit of stretch so it is easy to maneuver around the office all day long. The flats bring the look together by accenting all the color combinations, plus they are always a great option for work; especially if you are on your feet non-stop like I am!
Look number two is for going on a date; I have the same chambray top but I paired it with shorts, wedges and a mini cross body purse. The shorts are high waisted and have a scalloped hem, they will help show off your legs and will help the look to be a little sexier without giving everything up on the first date. The wedges will make your legs look long and sleek without being too tall or too uncomfortable. You look great when you feel great and this outfit will help make that happen.
Wine Tasting / Cocktail Hour Look
My third and final staple look is a color blocked maxi skirt. Look number one is for going to a wine tasting, I have paired the maxi skirt with a tank top, necklace, bracelet and scandals. Wine tastings are a fun event to do with your significant other or group of girl friends for a weekend away to the country. Summer is hot, so the basic navy tank is the perfect pairing for this type of event. By adding a gold-chained necklace, a leather wrap bracelet and gold sandals it helps to pull the whole look together and keep it simple. You don’t want to be fidgeting and irritated while you are trying to relax and kick back so this is a no-fuss look that anyone can pull off. Just find a maxi skirt that has a fun bold print or color(s) that show off your personality and accessorize with what you have in your jewelry box.
The second look is for going to a cocktail hour, by using the same maxi skirt but adding a cropped top, denim jacket, wedges and a clutch, it gives the skirt a completely different feel. The top is leather and has floral detailing down the front which helps make it look dressier, the evenings are always a little chillier so having the denim jacket to throw on is the perfect way to keep the outfit stylish and stay warm. The wedges and the clutch help to bring the whole look together, these accessories have touches of colors from the rest of the outfit creating unison and finishing off the look.
By taking one item of clothing and finding ways to pair it with other pieces and accessories you never have to wear the same outfit twice and it helps to show the gaps in your closet. By only buying the items needed to finish off these looks you will have endless ensembles for every event this summer while keeping within your budget. Taking polaroid’s of all the looks you can put together in your closet will help you to see exactly what you have and what you need to get. So, which pieces do you have in your closet and which pieces do you need to create all six of these looks?!
