Naeem Khan brought his signature opulence and red-carpet ready designs for his Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear collection, but with a decidedly Latin twist. Frieda Kahlo meets Spanish flamenco dancers, meets the ancient Moors. The result is romantic, feminine, and flattering. Khan even gives us a sneak peak into his upcoming bridal collection, launching soon in October.
A favorite of the First Lady, Michelle Obama has been known to rock a beautiful Khan gown, and gowns are what Khan is famous for. Spring 2014 RTW is no exception. From short and flirty cocktail dresses, to floor-skimming gowns (and even a romper!) the looks incorporate large rose and floral patterns, intricate squash-like embroideries, and lacy beadings and sequins.
The color palette is traditional Spanish romance- deep dark blood red hues and rich ebony. It’s mixed in with other hues such as blush, creme, gold, coral, and even bursts of tribal chic bolds like teal, orange, and hot pink. Even with such a spectrum of colors, the looks blend seamlessly and provide a dramatic background for the expertly crafted pieces.
Frieda Kahlo inspired braids, soft brown shadowed eyes, and bright rosy lips finished off each look. Oh and the shoes? Gold metallic ankle and t-strap sandals. The best thing about this collection is that it is flattering and wearable for every body size and shape.
