Fashion experts say the fashion capitol of the world is London, and by the looks of the 2013 British Fashion Awards that is easy to imagine. The British Fashion Awards have been taking place since 1989 and was assembled by the British Fashion Council. The British Fashion Council is currently an organization of 300 individuals in the fashion industry that strives to promote British fashion design across the world, and with these awards they have. The awards at this event include women’s and men’s wear designer of the year as well as designer brand of the year. Typically, at this event, there are numerous celebrities, iconic fashion designers, and emerging designers who are mingling together.
At this year’s British Fashion Awards, it was no different. The awards ceremony took place Monday December 2nd at the lovely London Coliseum. Celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss, and Rita Ora were enjoying the festive event with designers such as Donatella Versace, Marc Jacobs, and Lulu Guinness. British comedian and actor Jack Whitehall began the ceremony with an energetic presentation, and, from there, the awards commenced.
Highlights of the event included when musician Tiny Tempah presented the men’s wear designer of the year award to Burberry, and its lead designer Christopher Bailey, as well as Kate Moss being recognized for her sway on this generations’ fashion industry. In addition, one more highpoint included British designer Christopher Kane eagerly hurrying to the podium to receive the women’s wear designer of the year award from his friend and Italian designer Donatella Versace.
