Mercedes Benz Fashion week in Johannesburg, South Africa was unleashed with fashionable designers showcasing their prized possessions; their fashion line. Duaba Serwa and Mina Evans are international Ghanaian fashion designers that have wowed the audience during the showcase on November 2, 2013. The two fashion designers amazed the audience with their 2013/2014 collections inspired by nature. Fashion designer Serwa disclosed that the source of some of her fabrics was from Japan and India and some other places. She also mentioned that most of her fabrics were from Ghana. The showcase included batiks that were dyed and hand made from Ghana. On the other hand Mina Evans unveiled that her inspiration was mainly from butterflies; which took the show to a whole new level of fashion while using a good amount of African prints in the collection.
Mina Evens stated during an interview “For the past few collections we have used African prints and I wanted to go back to it but not too much, hence the subtle use of those fabrics”. Her designs included a mix of gold and bronze leaves merged and light colors of the rainbow spectrum. Looking to see how Africa fashion trends walk the run way?
