Elie Saab paid a nod to romance and fairytales in his new spring 2014 couture collection!
Taking a page from famed Dutch artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema’s paintings, Elie Saab sought to re-create the royal and statuesque Roman ambiance in his latest collection, one full of romance and toying with fantasy.
There was something essentially classic in Elie Saab’s silhouettes, with empire waists and softly draped volumes. There was also signature Elie Saab in the embroideries and beadwork. There were a plethora of florals; appliqués draped along dress hems and cascading down the chest and sleeves with an effortless romance.
The color palette was far from monochromatic- there was a melody of ombré in violet, citrine, vivid blues and corals, with soft pastels in blush pink, lilac, and hydrangea blue. All this was interspersed with bright whites, yellow golds, and midnight black.
Textures abounded with light pleats, sheer columns with peek-a-boo lace, fluffy tulle, and silky organza.
Every piece was the pure definition of couture, every item was impeccably tailored and the craftsmanship exquisite. It’s no wonder Elie Saab is a red carpet favorite!
