Clearly, we are all obsessed with Scandal, but what’s even more clear is that we are obsessed with Kerry Washington. Which is why she is this week’s Look for Less inspiration! Her style on and off the screen is an inspiration to all of us fashionistas, and there are a ton of tips we can learn from Kerry that take up more than all our fingers and toes.
Exhibit A: She is able to mix and match prints and patterns and do so flawlessly. Check out her outfit below when she was on the set of Extra filming a segment, probably about her new movie Peeples, but I am sure there were a few Scandal questions that snuck in there. Kerry is wearing a Marni skirt, Isabel Marant top, Jennifer Fisher jewelry, and to finish off the look, leopard pointy-toe heels and a two-toned bag. She can do no wrong.
It seems like there is a lot going on in this outfit beacause of all the prints found in all of her pieces, but together it works. The key to making this outfit work is actually quite obvious, she has the same base color, or tone in all of her pieces. If you notice closely, you are able to find a dark toned color on her top, shoes, skirt, and bag. This pulls everything together and helps her outfit look even more CHIC! If all the prints on every single piece are too much for you, do a bit of a print here and there and then add some solids. You can do one-toned shoes, or purse, in a color that will go along with the rest of your outfit.
Here’s the Look for Less below to give you an idea of how to mix and match prints.
