The best part of summer is taking a week from work to go to the beach. It’s the perfect time of year to kickback, relax and soak up the sun. To maximize your time in the sun, you must make sure you have the essentials in your beach bag. Grab a pen and take some notes because we have everything you need to make the most of your trip.
Making sure your face and scalp are not exposed to the sun all day is very important. A big floppy hat or baseball cap will help shade your face and keep your scalp from potential burning. And, hey, what girl wouldn’t want a great new summer accessory?
You shouldn’t leave the house without some form of sunscreen, especially when going to the beach. Confused about how often to lather up with SPF? Here’s a trick to remember – apply sunscreen as frequent as the SPF level provided. Using this method, you would apply SPF 30 every 30 minutes. This will keep your skin from burning and the UV rays from penetrating the skin. The more you protect your skin the more vibrant and healthy it will look for years to come.
Depending on what you like to do at the beach, make sure you choose the correct bathing suit. If you like to lounge then a string bikini works fine. If you like to get in the water or play games on the beach you might want to consider a sportier type of suit to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions!
Having a tunic is a necessity when at the beach. It will come in handy when you get out of the water or when your body needs a break from the glaring sun.
The beach can get pretty hot when the sun is beating down on the sand all day. Make sure you have flip-flops or slip on shoes to keep your feet from burning or blistering.
Being on the beach all day means being in the hot sun, having a big umbrella to create your own shaded oasis will help to cool off and re-energize yourself.
Add some friendly beach competition with your friends and family. A football, volley ball net or playing bags is a great way to have fun. Pack your favorite game and set it up right behind your camp. It will bring game time anytime!
Food & Water
Each person should have at least two and a half liters of water for the day. Being dehydrated puts your body in jeopardy of heat stroke and exhaustion. The first signs to look for are fatigue, dizziness or headache. Drink water all day and listen to your body. Packing sandwiches and fruit is cost effective and saves precious beach time. Put your food and water in a cooler with ice to keep it cold.
Magazine & Book
Catching up on your reading is the best part of vacation. Grab your favorite novel or a couple of fashion magazines and relax!
Chair & Towel
Who goes to the beach without a towel? It’s an essential item for tanning, laying on the sand and drying off. There are some super CHIC beach towels to match your personality. Bringing a chair that can be carried like a backpack is helpful for easy transport around the beach.
Now that you know what the essentials are, grab a CHIC bag and head to the beach!
