Virginia Jackson – Lead Sponsorship Coordinator
Virginia Jackson, mother of Sharan Nixon, was there when the idea for Baltimore Fashion Week was planted. She does a bit of everything including being the BFW office receptionist, coordinating the gift bags, picking up donations and working with sponsors. “I hope Baltimore Fashion Week will change the mindset of our guests. Even if you can’t afford the looks on the runway, you can utilize those ideas to be fashionably dressed.”
Diane Freeland, certified wedding planner and the driving force behind Events of Sophistication got her start in event planning more than 20 years ago as an administrative assistant at the Great Baltimore Committee (GBC), an organization that plays an integral role in the development of Baltimore City’s business community.
Diane was instrumental in the planning of small and large events for members of various corporations and organizations where attendance ranged from 20 to more than 200. The events included seminars, welcome receptions, luncheons, including the annual Orioles luncheon, Flag Day events and GBC’s annual business meeting.
I started in 2004 when I was asked to be in a friends wedding. I was initially asked to be a bridesmaid but after some events had taken place, I was asked to be the maid of honor. Once I took on that role I became completely involved in assisting her with all the details of her big day. While assisting her I took a big interest in planning weddings and after assisting her some of my other friends and family asked if I could assist them. From that point on I was known by family and friends as the coordinator for any event.
A defining moment in my life happened in 2005 when I realized this was something I was called to do, so I decided to take a Wedding/Event Planning Course with U.S. Event Guide and received my certification. In August of that year Memorable Moments was born. As a result, I dedicated myself to helping brides find out who they are, what they want and in turn, create their dream wedding day.
