New York Fashion Week is in full swing with every eye pointed to what next Spring and Summer 2013 will bring to the fashion world. The cool air is upon us and as we bundle up, we can’t help but sigh at the beautiful dresses and thin tops of warmer days. But there’s one way to make sure we can enjoy that warm weather fashion fun, the Resort collections. For 2013, one major trend is beading and embellishments.
Resort collections, also known as cruise, holiday, or travel collections, are just that; clothing meant to be worn during a getaway to escape the bitter cold and embrace the balmy tropical breezes, all in the dead of winter! The fashion houses present their inter-season” ready-to-wear lines during their bi-annual seasonal collections. So while major labels such as Louis Vuitton and Alexander McQueen are showing Spring and Summer 2013 looks, they are also showing Resort collections, which are usually ready for purchase and in stores by November.
We’ve seen a lot of metallics, and gilded work for Fall 2012, and the Resort collections have continued this trend, with added embellishments and embroidery along with intricate beading.
Besides dresses, the accessories are also all glammed-up.
Whether your look is all-out bedazzled, or a subtle pop of sparkle, the trend is varied and diverse, meant to fit a myriad of tastes and styles. And with major fashion houses behind this trend, we can rest assure the looks will always be CHIC!
